Evelyn Berry, 97, passed away Wednesday, September 14th, 2022, at Oakwood Health Campus.
A native of Tell City, she was born November 18th, 1924, to the late William and Ruth Boerste. She graduated from Tell City High School in 1942.
She was united in marriage on September 6th, 1952, to George O. Berry, who preceded her in death March 11, 1982.
She retired from General Electric in Tell City, in November 1985 as an instructor, after completing 42 years of service.
She was a Perry County Memorial Hospital volunteer and a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time family and friends. She also enjoyed the Tell City Marching band and traveled to various competitions.
Surviving are two daughters, Sheila Kirchgessner (Larry) of Rockport and Colleen Hahn of Evansville. Four grandchildren, Kris Kirchgessner (Angela) and Sabrina Kirchgessner of Rockport, Chelsea Jordan and Chase Dunigan (Jamie) of Evansville.
Also, 7 great-grandchildren: Gage Kirchgessner (Brittany) of Tell City, Stone Kirchgessner, Blaine and Cruz Mead of Rockport; Isaac, Knox and Mason Jordan of Evansville. And one great-great grandchild, Luca Kirchgesser of Tell City.
She has one surviving brother, Ralph Boerste, a sister, LaVerne Johnson, who preceded her in death, one nephew, Dean Boerste and 3 nieces Gwen Young, Nancy James and Beverly York, all of Tell City.
Visitation will be held at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, on Saturday, September 17th from 3:00-7:00 pm and Sunday the 18th from 12:00 pm until service time.
Funeral Services will be held at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Sunday, September 18th at 1:00 pm. with Fr. Tony Hollowell officiating, burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude or Riley Children’s Hospital.
