Evelyn R. Snyder, 100, of Troy, IN, passed away on March 10, 2024, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, IN.
She was born March 13, 1923, in Troy, IN, to Lora Z. and Vonnie (Winebarger) Villines.
Evelyn was a Troy High School graduate and went on to further her studies by attending Spencerian College of Business. She worked at Camp Breckenridge during World War II in Morganfield, KY. There she took care of filing and was a receptionist for the soldiers. This is also where she first met her husband Charles Snyder and on July 19, 1943, they were united in marriage. She was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed walking and baking pies.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Charlotta (Ron) Winchell of Evanston, Clifford (Lana) Snyder of Tell City, and Sheila (Darryl) Knepper of Evanston; four grandchildren, Crystal Kress, Jennifer Brand, Josh Vaal, and Lucas Vaal; nine great-grandchildren, Alisha Landerville, Evan Eaton, Ethan Vaal, Lacey Eaton, Ava Vaal, Jenna Brand, Ella Brand, Elliott Vaal, and Mia Vaal.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles Snyder, and a son, Phillip Snyder.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home.
