Floretta Mae Baird, 73, passed away on September 27, 2026, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on June 27, 1953, to the late Emory and Daisy (Harrison) Martin.
Floretta was a graduate of Perry Central High School. She worked as a dispatcher for the drivers at Kemper Brothers Scrap Yard in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a member of Bristow Pentecostal Church and was a woman who loved her family dearly. She was especially proud of being a grandmother and was, in the words of her family, the “best grandma ever.” Floretta enjoyed spending time with her family, reading books, especially the Bible, and playing with her puppy and taking her for walks. The time she shared with those she loved was among the things that brought her the most happiness.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dennis Baird; her children, Christina (James) Fraim and Neilecia (Ricky) VanWinkle, both of Tell City; her grandchildren, James Fraim, Emoraia Fraim, Montana VanWinkle, and Rachel Fraim; her great-grandchildren, Dayton Burch and Myanna Wiseman; and her sister, Barbara Alvey of Bandon.
In addition to her parents, Floretta was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Raley; her siblings, Sandra Applegate, John Martin, Mary Walker, and Elesia Perz; and her great-grandchildren, Myles VanWinkle and Kingston Fight.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Carr Cemetery in Derby, Indiana, with Pastor Clarence Enmen officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
