Gletus Malone Obituary

Gletus Ann Malone, 68, passed away on August 2, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

Born on August 27, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana, Gletus was the daughter of the late Cletus B. Hagedorn and Mary Gertrude (James) Hagedorn. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Dr. Lloyd Hagedorn, Mary Ann Hagedorn, and Charles William Hagedorn.

A 1975 graduate of Tell City High School, Gletus went on to earn her Dental Assistant degree from Watterson College in Louisville in 1977. Less than a week after graduating, she married her lifelong sweetheart, Tim Malone, on March 26, 1977. Their love story began in the third grade, when Tim famously gave her chicken pox—a story they lovingly shared throughout their marriage.

Gletus dedicated much of her career to caring for others. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Keller, for more than 20 years and later for Dr. Norton for over 5 years. In later years, she spent about a decade cleaning homes, allowing her more time to enjoy life with Tim.

She was known for her incredible work ethic and was someone many would describe as a true workaholic. Whether she was cleaning the house, push mowing their third of an acre yard, or taking long daily walks, Gletus was always on the move. She especially loved her beloved dog, Lincoln. Together they logged six to seven miles nearly every day until Lincoln passed away in 2022.

A member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Evansville, Gletus lived her life with faith, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Tim Malone, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage; her brothers, J.T. Hagedorn (Betty) and Dean Hagedorn; her sister-in-law, Jan Hagedorn; several cherished nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at St. Marks Catholic Church with Father Tony Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
