Gloria June Hendershot, 87, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. A longtime resident of Tell City, Indiana, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Born on March 4, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Asa and Auda (Linder) Casey. June was united in marriage to Frederick “Doc” Hendershot on August 6, 1981. They shared many wonderful years together before his passing in 2006.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Lyn Smith; brother-in-law, Tommy Johnson; nephews, Lonnie Johnson and Travis Potts; and son-in-law, Tim Chesser.
A faithful member of The Oasis Christian Church in Pueblo West, Colorado, June lived her beliefs each day through her kindness, compassion, and the way she cared for others. She deeply loved her family and was an exceptional cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She also loved the outdoors, especially taking nature walks and tending to her garden.
She is survived by her son, Greg Smith (Denise); daughter, Pam Chesser; sisters, Barb Johnson and Margie Potts (Randy); stepsons, Larry Hendershot (Stephani), Greg Hendershot (Yvette), and Jeff Hendershot (Jenan); along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Deer Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. CST prior to the service.
