James Lawson Sr. Obituary

James “Bob” Lawson, Sr., 82, of Hawesville, KY, passed away on December 28, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.


 

He was born in Daviess County, KY, on June 24, 1942, son of the late James W. and Nancy (Gough) Lawson. Bob was united in marriage to Marilyn Brinksneader on October 5, 1974, and they shared 48 wonderful years together, before her passing in 2023.


 

Bob retired from Cannelton Utilities after many years of dedicated service. He has also worked for Brown's Automotive in Hawesville. Bob was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 213, the VFW Auxiliary, and a former member of the Cannelton Fire Department. Bob liked watching old westerns, NASCAR, and UK basketball on TV. He also enjoyed buying, selling, and trading vehicles.


 

Bob is survived by his children, Kenneth Lawson (Donna) of Daviess County, KY, Resa Silcox of Cincinnati, OH, Jeff Lawson of Cannelton, Kimberly Reed (Larry) of Millstone, and James Lawson, Jr. (Renae) of Cannelton; siblings, Pam Hunt (Jim) of Utica, Lori Estes (Darrell) of Lewisport, Sandy Estes of Hawesville, and Cindy Lawson of Somerset, KY ; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way.


 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Lawson; his sister, Christine Allen; and brother-in-law, John Allen.


 

Per Bob's wishes a celebration of life will be held at a later date. A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
