James H. Cox

James H. Cox, 83, of Oriole, IN, passed away Wednesday January 24, 2024, at Brickyard Healthcare.

He was born in Cub Run, KY, on November 22, 1940, to the late Porter and Louise (Norten) Cox.

James married Gayle Roehm on June 21, 1969. They shared 51 years together before her passing in 2020. He retired after 39 years as a heavy equipment operator from Mulzer Crushed Stone Cape Sandy Quarry. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, bird watching, feeding crows and his trips to Walls Drive-in for their french fries.

He is survived by his children, Kathleen Owen of Freeland, MI, Michael Cox of Leavenworth, IN, and Christy (Rusty) Lenard of Leavenworth, IN; siblings, Mary Lou, Laura Bell, Paul and Porter Jr.; grandchildren, Taylor, Trinton, Dakota and Tameka (Anthony); great grandchildren, Braxten, Eastten, Winsten and Kolten.

In addition to his parents and his wife, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Charlie and Kenny.

Funeral Services will be at 6:00pm Friday January 26, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1:00pm until service time Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Alvey officiating. Burial will be in the St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery.
