James Allen Kessner, 75, of Tell City, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Born in Tell City, on November 1, 1948, the son of the late Maurice and Ruby (Dixon) Kessner.
Jim was a 1969 graduate of Cannelton High School and attended classes at Ivy Technical College and Owensboro Technical College. He joined the United States Navy and served our country for 4 years. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Catherine Kirchner on December 16, 1972. He was an industrial mechanic at Spencer Industries for 35 years until his retirement in 2020. He was a lifetime member of the VFW post 2939 and had been a member of Rolling Thunder. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, John Wayne movies, family gatherings, and camping with his grandkids. He will be remembered for his famous John Wayne biscuits.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patty Kessner; children, Steve (Jamie) Kessner of Grandview, Jamessa (Bobby) Potts of Evansville, and Aimee (Drew) Twarek of Berkley, MI; sister, Betty Hilgenhold of Tell City; 8 grandchildren, Stephen, Mak, Jade, Beau, Cora, Clayton, Eli, and Micah; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings, Cindy White, Connie Carter, and Sheila Kessner.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Pastor John D. Herring Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024, and from 11am until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
