James O. McCallister, 79, of Tell City, Indiana, passed away on April 19, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Born on August 12, 1946, in Troy, Indiana, Jim was the son of the late Hollis and Deloris (Storm) McCallister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary McCallister.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of Tell City High School. On July 25, 1970, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Liz” Fuchs. He spent most of his working life in construction. A skilled carpenter by trade, Jim began his career with Voges Construction and John Knable Construction before establishing his own business, McCallister Construction, which he owned and operated for many dedicated years. He was known as a very hard worker and took great pride in his work and genuinely caring about the people he worked with. He was known for his generosity, and would often donate his time and skills to help others.
Jim’s greatest joy in life was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. In his free time, Jim enjoyed the outdoors, often spending his days fishing, camping, and hunting, simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness.
