Jerry “ Monk” Waninger, 59, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
He was born on March 14, 1961, the son of the late Bernard and Maxine (Boehm) Waninger. Jerry was a 1979 graduate of Tell City High School. He was united in marriage to Jo Schaefer on April 17, 1993.
Jerry worked at Kimball International in Santa Claus, In as a maintenance employee. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, fishing trips, deer camps, and eating out with friends. He was a member of Early Days Antique Club at St. Meinrad, IN, the Knights of Columbus and St. Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Jo, ; sons, Clint of Tell City and Corey at home; brothers, Don , Charles (Debbie) , John (Charlotte Persinger) Waninger all of Tell City; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Todd (Pam) Schaefer of Evanston, IN, a sister-in-law, Kelly (Kenny) Sibrel of Loogootee, IN and his father and mother-law, Charles and Earlene Schaefer of Evanston, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Thursday December 10, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday with a K of C prayer service at 6:30pm, and from 8:00am to 9:30am Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
