John L. Holman Sr., 78 , passed away January 17 2021 at his home.
Born July 14, 1942 in Evansville, IN the son of the late John E. and Hazel (Aders) Holman. He married Darlene M. Howe on September, 20, 1968. John was a mechanic and transmission specialist most of his working life. He retired from Carquest in 2011 and had worked at Dauby's Motor Co., Cochenour Chrysler & Plymouth. He also had served as a reserve officer for the Tell City Police Department and Perry County Jailer.
He enjoyed dirt track racing and demolition derbies. Among his favorite things to do was spend time with his grandchildren watching them play ball and shooting guns.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene, daughters, Tonya (John) Blake, Diana (James)Patton both of Tell City; a son John (Shirley) Holman, Jr of Rome, IN; grandchildren, Jeremy Reid, Kyle Holman, Jessica Harper, Jennifer Burk, John Blake, Justin Dooley, Alisha Seibal, Ethan Patton, Ryan Dooley, Whitney Baker, Julie Holman, Larry Holman, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is his parents, son Mark and a brother Paul Holman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday January 20, 2021 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday and from 9:00am to service time Wednesday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
