John P. Murphy

John Philip Murphy, 72, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at his home in Tell City.

He was born on March 4, 1952, in Tell City, the son of Justin and Madonna (Schneider) Murphy, who precede him in death.

John was a 1970 graduate of Tell City High School. He was a United States Navy veteran having served his country for four years during the Vietnam War. During his working career, he retired from Commonwealth Aluminum after 30 years of dedicated service and was previously the assistant manager of Nobles IGA. John was a history buff who enjoyed fishing and hiking. He was always thinking outside of the box, tinkering around the garage and showing off his ingenuity.

John is survived by his fiancé and caregiver, Donna Carr of Tell City; his son, Sean Murphy (Cortney) of Plainfield, IN; and his sister, Kathy Amos.

A private burial will be held at St. Augustine Cemetery in Leopold.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
