Jonathan (Jon) Hartz of Tell City Indiana passed away November 29, 2023, at 4:45 pm in the company of family at his home.
He was 70 years old.
Jon was born in Tell City, at Perry County Memorial Hospital; September 8, 1953, third son of James and Bernice Hartz.
In May of 1974 Jon was united in marriage to the former Teri Wood.
Jon is a 1971 graduate of Tell City High School, and 1976 graduate of Indiana State University and 1995 graduate of Wisconsin University School of Banking. He started his banking career in January 1977 as a management trainee for Citizens National Bank of Tell City. Jon advanced his career with Citizens National Bank to Executive Vice President and became a board member in May 1998. In October 1988 Old National Bank of Evansville merged with Citizens National Bank. He was named Chairman of the Board and CEO in January 2001 for Tell City and Rockport. 2004 Jon was promoted by Old National Bank to region president for the Evansville area which included overseeing several banks in 6 Southern Indiana counties, 2007 he was named to Old National's Executive Management Team for the southern region which included operations for all banks in Southern Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois. He retired from the bank in December of 2016 after a fulfilling career.
He was a member of Hoosier Heights Country Club, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, and Exhausted Roosters. Jon served on the Board of Perry County Memorial Hospital and Tell City Revolving Loan Fund Board. He is also a past member of the Perry County Development Corporation.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years Teri, daughter Sarah (Geoff) Mauck, son Philip (Lauren) Hartz and one brother Jimmy Hartz. As well as 6 grandchildren, Mason, Jonathan Mitchell and Madison Mauck and Hadley, Madeline and Hudson Hartz. Preceding him in death are his parents James and Bernice Hartz and brother Joe Hartz.
Jon requested no visitation. A private family funeral will be held at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City.
A celebration of life will be held at William Tell Room located 645 Main Street Tell City, on December 17, 2023, from 1 to 4pm CST.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Perry County Hospital Foundation, Rivers Edge Animal Shelter or Perry County Humane Society.
