Joseph Schneider Obituary

Joseph C. Schneider, 85, passed away on July 4, 2026, at his home in Tell City, Indiana.

He was born on May 15, 1941, in Jasper, Indiana, to Basil Schneider and Pearl (King) Sifrig.

Joseph was a 1961 graduate of Tell City High School. He was united in marriage to Judith Gail Kilian on May 5, 2001 and they shared 20 years before her passing in 2021. A skilled painter by trade, he spent many years painting homes and businesses throughout the area before retiring in 2003 as a custodian with the Tell City Troy Township School Corporation.

In his younger years, Joseph enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker, gardening, and painting for others. As the years went by, he found great enjoyment in visiting casinos, but nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his willingness to lend a hand, and the many friendships he made throughout his life.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Jenny (Lloyd) Sabelhaus, Roxanne Schneider (Carl Strle), Traci Schneider-Newton, Tara Schneider (Jason Burgess), Dawnita (Shane) McIntosh, and Missi Morgan; the son he considered his own, Dwayne Albin; grandchildren, Clint Albin, Amanda Albin, Tyler Albin, Nick Albin, Dane Sabelhaus, Kaycie Sabelhaus Thompson, Jonathon Bratcher, Bryan Bratcher, Logan Newton, D.J. Newton, Alex Newton, Marrisa Criss, Kenzie Burgess, Brayden Burgess, Madison Gilliland, Maison Gehlhausen, Rylee McIntosh, River McIntosh, Lucas Chapman, and Erin Zoeckler; 34 great-grandchildren; his niece, Faye Schneider; nephews, Mike Schneider and Ricky Schneider; along with many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Schneider; his mother and stepfather, Pearl and Bernard Sifrig, and his father and stepmother, Basil and Arlene Schneider; his brother, David Schneider; his nephew, David Schneider Jr.; and his beloved furbaby, Izzy.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice, as well as Joseph's devoted caregivers, Roxanne Schneider, Amber Baumeister, Darelene Hudson-Huff, Gena Weigand, and Lesley Schneider, for the compassionate care and kindness they provided.
