Kevin Dean Ballis passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 67.
He was born on January 28, 1959, in Owensboro, Kentucky, the son of the late Oscar Ballis Jr. Kevin was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Juanita and Oscar Ballis Sr., whose guidance and care helped shape the man he became.
Kevin was united in marriage to Barbara Williams on November 10, 2001. Together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories until Barbara's passing in 2019.
Kevin wore many hats over the years, one included proudly serving his community as a police officer for several years. He then began his career in industrial maintenance. He was employed by Aleris, where he worked diligently and earned the respect of his coworkers before retiring after many years of dedicated service.
In his free time, Kevin enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, riding his motorcycle, and taking vacations with family and friends. Above all else, he treasured his role as a Papaw. Spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him immense joy. His family was the greatest blessing of his life.
Survivors include his children, Mathew (Megan) Ballis of Richland City, Katie (Logan) Williams of Tobinsport, Dakota (Chelsea) Ballis of Boonville, Donnie (Courtney) Schaefer of Etowah, Tennessee, and Kristina Jones of Tell City; several brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Ayden (Kay), Aubrey, Adley, Dixie, Thorn, Liam, Gemma, Rosie, Lisa (Brad), Sasha (Jacob), Abby, Victor (Kayla), and Samantha (Michael); great-grandchildren, Holly, Jacob, Creek, Heaven, Praylee, Mylee, Savannah, Ilana, Jaxon, Calvin, and Beau; and great-great-grandchildren, Jill, Elayna, and Grayson.
In addition to his parents, grandparents who raised him, and his beloved wife, Barbara, Kevin was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Richard, Aurora, and Jerome.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lilly Dale Cemetery in Gatchel, Indiana.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
Kevin leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him always. While his absence will be felt every day, they find comfort in knowing that after seven years apart, he is once again reunited with his sweetheart, Barbara.
