Lela C. (Cail) Daugherty

Lela C. (Cail) Daugherty, 73, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, at her home in Tell City, IN.

She was born on September 21, 1949, in Tell City, IN, the daughter of Morris and Zelda (Lawrence) Cail.

Lela was a 1967 graduate of Tell City High School and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College. She worked as a dispatcher at the Tell City Police Department for 28 years and was a Tell City Reserve Police Officer. Lela also worked at Commercial Filters and after retirement she enjoyed working with her nephew Chris Cail at William Tell Antiques. She was a member of the Tell City First United Methodist Church. Lela was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her daughter and working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed visiting with her nephews Brian and Todd Cail.

Surviving is her daughter and in later days her care giver, Shelby Daugherty of Tell City; her siblings, Mack (Brenda) Cail of Tell City, Leland “Bud” Cail of Tell City, Diane Buntin of Tell City, Teresa Linne of Tell City, Mark (Cheryl) Buntin of Owensboro, Tim (Sandy) Cail of Tell City, Rob (Beci) Cail, of Tell City, Steve Cail of Cannelton, and Rick (Theresa) Cail of St. Pete Beach, Florida, Lela is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Lela was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeanine.

Per Lela’s last wish a celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
