Lena McDowell

Lena P. (Murphy) McDowell, 85, passed away Thursday October 16, 2025, in Owensboro, KY, with her sister by her side.

Born December 1, 1939, in Newtonville, IN, to Bert and Ruth (Weatherholt) Murphy.

After graduating from Tell City High School, Lena obtained her cosmetology license. She became a well-known beautician in her small town, doing hair for over 50 years. During her career, Lena made countless friends that became family. She enjoyed bowling with her sister and in her younger years was quite the skier. Lena was a member of the Tell City First United Methodist Church.

Lena married for best friend Ronnie F. McDowell in 2006. They enjoyed line dancing and ballroom dancing together. They shared 14 years of fun before he passed in 2020.

Surviving is her sister, Ruthie Richardson and her husband George of Owensboro, KY, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lena was preceded in death by her brothers, Bert Murphy Jr. and Cecil Murphy.

Per Lena's request services will be private. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
