Mabel E. Askins, 74, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at her home in Tell City.
She was born August 21, 1948, in Spencer County, IN, the daughter of the late Chester and Viola (Mosby) Mills. Mabel was married to John M. Askins on August 16, 1991.
Mabel attended Chrisney High School. She was a homemaker and had cooked for several local restaurants. She enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Michelle (Mark) Blunk of Tell City, Denise (Aaron) Brown of Cloverport, KY, Danny (Stacy) Hosler of Tell City, Daune Hosler of English, Kevin Tate of Cannelton, Greg Tate of Cannelton; siblings, Evelyn (Hilbert) Hessig of St. Meinrad, Brenda Mills of Tell City; 12 grandchildren, Breanna Hall, Makala Blunk, Mariah Parr, Dani, Carli, Brandon and Jordon Hosler, Amber and Courtney Tate, Victoria and Kain Brucken, and Emily Johnson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mabel is preceded in death by her husband John Askins; her brothers, Earl and Bob Mills; grandchild, Kassandra; and great grandchild, Carter.
Services will be 11am Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Monday, February 27, 2023, and from 9am until service time on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.
