Marvin Eugene Peer went to be with the Lord doing what he loved, working in his garden. He passed on May 30, 2026, at Perry County Memorial Hospital, in Tell City, IN. He was 77 years old.
Born on April 13, 1949, in Greenville, Michigan, Marvin was the son of the late Louis Clint and Geneva (Ostrom) Peer. He graduated in 1967 from Greenville high school and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Marvin dedicated many years to public service as a correctional officer with the Branchville Department of Corrections, retiring in 2012 after a long and respected career.
Marvin was first united in marriage to Wilma Dotterweich. They shared 39 wonderful years together before her passing in 2010. He later married Patricia Anderson, who passed away in 2013. On July 31, 2014, Marvin married Roberta “Bobbie” Scott, and together they shared nearly 12 years of marriage filled with love and faith.
A devoted member of Tell City First Church of the Nazarene, Marvin faithfully served his church and lived out his faith through kindness, generosity, and a servant’s heart. He found great joy in fishing, mushroom hunting, golfing, woodworking, gardening, and selling produce. Whether tending his garden, building something with his hands, or helping a friend or family member in need, Marvin was happiest when serving others. He was a steadfast provider, protector, and source of strength for his family.
More than anything, Marvin was a hero to his family. He devoted himself to caring for those he loved, selflessly caring for his wives through illness, and always putting the needs of his family before his own. His strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie Peer; his children, Trinka (David) Pape of Creal Springs, Illinois, Holly Peer of Derby, Clint (Julie) Peer of Petersburg, Indiana, Tobias (Sherry) Davis of Poseyville, Indiana, and Jen (Mike) Thames of Rootstown, Ohio; his siblings, Doreen (Kim) Akkerhuis of Greenville, Michigan, Dawn (Randy) Kincaid of Cedar Springs, Michigan, David (Marlene) Peer of Lakeland, Florida, DeVere Peer, Sr. of Rockford, Michigan, and Darwin Peer of Rockford, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, Josh, Rebecca, Aaron, Hannah, Aidan, Aimee, Nathan, Allison, Madison, Jeremy, Brileigh, Molly, and Andrew; and two great-grandchildren, Dayton and Ellie.
In addition to his parents and his first two wives, Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, DuWayne Peer.
