Mary Jo “Jodie” Voges, 86, passed away on March 21, 2024, at 6:35 p.m. at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City, IN.
She was born on March 26, 1937, to the late John Richard and Dorothy (Heitkemper) Kruse.
Mary Jo grew up in Grandview, IN and graduated from Rockport High School. She worked as a lab and x-ray technician for several years in the area. Mary Jo later owned and operated an antique store, and also worked for Voges Appraisal Services. There she was the co-owner and real estate appraiser of the family business, from where she later retired in 1985.
She was a very artistic person who enjoyed many types of creative activities. Mary Jo enjoyed photography, painting, quilting, and antiques. She considered herself an activist and supported women's and human rights initiatives. Mary Jo was also a homemaker, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her spouse, Hubert Voges; daughter, Christina (Larry) Drake; sons, Joseph (Angela) Voges and Matthew Voges; and son-in-law, Jim Horner, all of Tell City; sisters, Dee Kiel and Phyllis Garrison; granddaughters, Chelsea (Dane) Sabelhaus, Alicia (Mike) Hogan, and Sarah Drake; great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Charlotte Sabelhaus, Callan and Henry Hogan.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Voges.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday March 25, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Fr. Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will follow immediately in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the funeral home.
