Michael “Mike” Nelson, 73, passed away on May 4, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Mike was born on December 5, 1952, to the late Ewell and Anastasia (Edwards) Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diana Hull.
On September 22, 1973, he was united in marriage to Rosalie Smith. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, hard work, and devotion to one another.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his career, working for Swain Industries, Malone Brothers, and later retiring from J.H. Rudolph, Inc. He took pride in providing for his family and was known for his strong work ethic.
In his free time, Mike enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, shooting, and fishing. He found peace in nature and cherished the time spent doing what he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie Nelson of Tell City; daughters, Rosanne Ridener (John) of Branchville and Susan N. Nelson of Tell City; sister, Carol Hottell of Corydon; grandchildren, Victoria Neukam, Shawn Ridener, and Aurelia Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Gunner and Easton Hancock.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
