Nelda M. (Dunn) Gray

Nelda M. Gray, 90, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Nelda was born on January 21, 1932, in Spencer County, IN, to the late Clarence and Eva Mae (Wangler) Dunn.

Nelda graduated from Chrisney High School in 1949. She was united in marriage on September 27, 1975, to Marion Francis Gray. Nelda loved her work she did for many years at the VFW Auxiliary. She served as their treasurer and always kept very precise books. She would close them and say that they were down to the penny.

Nelda was an avid reader, she loved to play card games, and she loved to go out to eat with family and friends. She was always into exercise. She loved to walk and for many years she traveled into the city and joined her walking group of friends. When Nelda lived at The Waters of Rockport, the staff told us they had to be careful early morning because they could round a corner and there she would be with her walker. She would walk up one wing and down the other getting in her morning walk as she had done her whole life.

Surviving are her daughters, Donna Anderson of Indianapolis, Barbara Dauby of Tell City, and Lola Stock of Evansville; stepchildren, Mary Noble, Rose Parker, Melissa Stinogel, Theresa Gronquist, Rachel Brown, and Charles Gray; sister, Evelyn Hall; and numerous grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Nelda is preceded in death by her son, David L. Weedman and her brother Charles Dunn

Services will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, 2:00pm with Rev. Tom Hubachek officiating at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 12:00 until service time.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Waters of Rockport for their excellent care. She always felt love and called it her home.
