Nelda (Crawford) Thompson

Nelda M. Thompson, 86, passed away December 24, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born on October 15, 1936, in Tell City, IN, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Huck) Crawford. Nelda was united in marriage to Olan Chester Thompson on July 16, 1955. They were married for 50 years when Olan passed in April of 2007. She was a 1954 graduate of Tell City High School. Nelda was a military wife and had moved 13 times in 20 years but spent most of her life in Tell City. She retired from Hook's Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Tech after 20 years. She enjoyed reading, gambling and most of all her family.

Surviving are her children, Cindy Kaufman (Darrel) of Tell City, Bryan Chester Thompson (Lori) of Willow, AK, and Jay R. Thompson of Carlisle, IN; siblings, Doris Lutgring of Parma, OH, and Ronald Crawford of Tell City; 5 grandchildren, Dale Kaufman (Michelle), Laura Bennett (Jeremy), Dawn N. Fahey, Aron M. Thompson (Jennifer), and Megan L. Straneva (Kris); and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her husband, were her siblings, Irvin Crawford, Mabel Miller, Clifford Crawford, Peter Crawford, John Crawford, Wanda Royer, Margaret Williams, and George Crawford.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Fr. Luke Waugh officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00pm CST Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home and from 9:00 to 11:00am CST prior to service time on Friday.
