Nelda Waninger, 83, passed away October 1, 2020 at Northwood Good Samaritan Society in Jasper, IN.
She was born at Mt. Pleasant, IN on July 5, 1937 to David and Edria (Goffinet) Goelzer. She married Richard Waninger on October 20, 1956 who preceded her in death.
She had been employed at Branchville Correctional Facility for 15 years. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where she played the organ for 42 years.
Nelda enjoyed playing music, sewing and traveling.
She is survived by her children, Lorna Mills (Anthony) of Newtonville, IN, Myra Cummins (Bill) of Birdseye, Mark Waninger (Karen) of Jamestown, and Linda Gengelbach of Birmingham, AL; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren and 4 step great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation is from 2 – 6 pm Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Monday, October 5 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Rosary being said at 10:30 am at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Fr. Brian Esarey will officiate.
