Obituary

Norma Jean (Genet) Brinksneader, 87, passed away on March 8, 2023, at Oakwood Health Campus.


 

She was born in Leopold, Indiana on October 1, 1935, to the late Clarence and Alma (Foster) Genet. Norma Jean was united in marriage to Vernon Brinksneader on July 03, 1954.


 

Norma Jean attended Leopold Grade School and Oil Township High School. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Norma Jean had worked at General Electric, from where she retired. She enjoyed cooking, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Purdue, and IU Basketball, playing yahtzee, and watching Wheel of Fortune, but mostly, she enjoyed being with her family.

 

Surviving are her children, Vickie Schaefer (Al) of Tell City, and Mark Brinksneader of Tobinsport; brother, Clarence Allen Genet (Malinda) of Tell City, Jerry Genet of Leopold, and Doyle Genet (Becky) of Aurora, CO; brother-in-law, Richard Bolin of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Alicia Lloyd (David), Travis Schaefer (Samantha), Tyler Schaefer, Ashley Brinksneader,; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Luke Blanchard, Sydney and Will Schaefer, and Lydia Schaefer; several nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend Merle Doogs.


Preceding her in death were her parents, Clarence and Alma Genet; her husband, Vernon Brinksneader, in 2008; and her sisters, Wanda Bolin and Bonnie Hauser.


 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Monday, March 13, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Kolbe Wolniakowski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.


 

Visitation will be from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023, and from 8:30am until 9:30am on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.


 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Church or St. Mary's Cemetery
