Norma Jean Smith

Norma Jean Smith, 84, of Tell City, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, in Owensboro, KY.

She was born September 28, 1938, in Cannelton, IN, the daughter of Oscar and Sarah Bolin. Norma was united in marriage to Francis Eugene Smith in 1970.

Norma Jean also known as Grams, enjoyed her family and the quality time she shared with them. Whether just taking a cruise around town with her girls or volunteering at the Shubael Little Pioneer Village, you would always find her keeping busy. She enjoyed making bets with Rick on football games, playing darts, eating at Lawson's Bar and Grill, and playing scratch off tickets. She loved her dog Zack but most of all she loved and adored her children, great and grand, and was so proud of each and every one of them. Norma was truly the rock of her family.

Surviving are her children, Richard Hedinger (Robin) of Cape Coral FL, Sarah Smith (Adria Matos) of Tell City, Bill Smith (Mandy Splater) of New Boston, Betty Smith (Rick Wilgus) of Tell City, and Sue Korfhage (Joe) of Owensboro; siblings, Kenny Bolin (Connie) of Tell City, Larry Bolin of Evansville, and Danny Bolin (Georgeann) of Tell City; 10 grandchildren, Danny, Karin, Jes, Ciara, Mason, David, Sarah, Taylor, Richard, and Cody; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Norma Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Hedinger; siblings, Frank Bolin, Betty Vaeth and Dennis Bruce Bolin; her companion for 21 years, Hayward Harlow; and her great grandchild, Ledger Smith.

Services will be 6pm Friday, September 29, 2023, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Pastor Stevie Jackson officiating.

Visitation will be from 1pm to 6pm on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the funeral home.
