Onia “Nanny” Linne, 92, passed away on Thursday September 15, 2022, at Brickyard Healthcare-Lincoln Care Center.
Onia was born May 11, 1930, near Lewisport, KY. The daughter of the late Betty (White) Nugent and Gus Nugent. At a young age Onia went to work at the GE plant in Tell City. She was also one of the first cooks at Lincoln Hills nursing home when it opened. She also worked at Woodcrafters and Tell City Chair Co. She married the late veteran, Maurice Linne on January 24, 1949. Onia loved cooking for her family, co-workers, friends, and sharing her famous potato salad recipe with everyone. Her favorite hobby was sitting on a creek bank with Maurice seeing who could catch the most fish.
Surviving is a daughter, Kathy (Alan) Hess and a son-in-law, Bob Young; grandchildren, Kathy Zabel (Bo Rowe), Karmen (Ben) Stallings, Aaron (Denise) Hess, Emily (Eric) Vidoni, Wesley Young, Tod (Stacie) Young, and Tony (Wendy) Young; great-grandchildren, Derrian, Matt, and Kade Zabel, Travis and Lainey Peter, Andrew and Allie Hess, Sofia and Maria Vidoni, and Brady Stallings.
In addition to her parents Onia is preceded in death by her husband Maurice Linne; her daughter Marcie Young; her sisters, Dorothy Leaf, Carrie Mandelt, Joyce Mitchell, Ida Hennesy, and Joann Nugent; and a brother David Nugent.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10:30 am at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Pastor Clayton White officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Troy.
The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 3:00 to 7:00pm and on Monday from 9:00 to until service time at the funeral home.
