Opal Fay Rickenbaugh, 88, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Bristow on April 19, 1925 to the late Floyd and Flossie (Nix) Beard.
A graduate of Bristow High School, Opal was a homemaker and had worked during World War II in Evansville building airplanes. She was married on September 14, 1946 to Archie Rickenbaugh, who precedes her in death in 2007. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and member of Tell City Kingdom Hall since 1956 and the Rockport congregation. Opal loved being with her family, watching birds and playing cards. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Sue Howell of Oakland City, Dewey Rickenbaugh and wife, Melanie, Edward Rickenbaugh, all of Bristow, Malcolm Rickenbaugh and wife, Kelly of Boonville and Mike Rickenbaugh and wife, Gaye of Dale; a sister, Charlotte Morgan of Bristow; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2:00 PM CST at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Brother Jim Huffman will officiate. Burial will follow in Bristow Cemetery. Visitation is also Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
