Ralph W. Mitchell, 74, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 18, 1950, in Evansville, IN, son of the late George and Dorothy (Lahee) Mitchell.
Ralph was a 1968 graduate of Tell City High School then went on to serve our country in the United States Army, where he was a missile launch control chief in the 65th Air Defense Artillery. Upon returning home Ralph owned and operated the Village Smithy from 1980 to 2016, where he enjoyed building ornamental iron. He was two-time past Master and member of the Tell City Masonic Lodge 623. Ralph was a collector of antique guns who liked to tinker, and loved spending time with his children, grands, and great grands.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa Carter; children, Robyn Mitchell of Troy, Jon Mitchell (Brittany) of Jasper, Sarah Miller (Ryan) of Evansville, Harrison Mitchell (Apryll Norris) of Owensboro, Sean Mitchell (Lexi) of Louisiana, and Coty Cash (Nikki Lewis) of Tell City; sister, Sharon Miller of Jacksonville, FL; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Walt Miller.
Services will be held 11:00am on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial with military rites will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, with a Masonic Service at 6:00pm, and on Tuesday from 9:00am until service time.
