Ray L. Rust

Ray Louis Rust, 76, formerly of Evanston, IN, passed away in San Diego, CA, on October 26, 2024.

He was born on January 28, 1948, to the late Fred and Clara (Dunn) Rust. One of six children he had four brothers, Roger Rust, Willkie Rust, Denny Rust, Richard Rust, and one sister, Linda Rust.

He graduated from Chrisney High School and went on to serve in the Navy from 1967 to 1971. Ray was united in marriage to Janice Miles on February 20, 1971. He worked in maintenance as a civil servant for the Navy and Marine Corps in Miramar, CA.

Ray loved spending time with his wife, children and grandkids. He enjoyed visiting National Parks like Yosemite, bird watching, rebuilding and riding bicycles, shooting guns with his sons.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice Rust; his three children, Daniel (Marissa) Rust of White House, TN, Brent (Deanna) Rust of Mansfield, TX, and Christy (Jim) Welsh of Conroe, TX; siblings, Richard Rust of Velpen, IN and Linda Rust of Evanston, IN; eight grandchildren, Miles, Estelle, Everly, and Ava Rust, Aubrey, Jackson, Sydney, and Reagan Welsh.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his brothers Roger, Willkie, and Dennis Rust, and a grandson Angel Rust.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday November 9, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with burial to follow in Collins Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Harry McDonald will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, November 8, 2024, and from 9:00 am to service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Collins Chapel Cemetery.
