Rick Phipps Obituary

Rick L. Phipps, 62, passed away on June 28, 2026, at his home in Magnet, Indiana.

Born on January 22, 1964, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana, he was the son of the late Allen Dean and Edna Maxine (Moore) Phipps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Phipps and sisters, Carol Heuser and Diane Loman.

Rick was a 1982 graduate of Floyd Central High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1981 to 1990. On April 14, 1986, he was united in marriage to Sandy Edwards.

Rick was the owner and operator of RSP Transportation. He was a hardworking man who truly enjoyed life on the road and took great pride in driving his truck. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time on his "new-to-him" tractor, riding his Harley, going out on the boat, and gathering with friends at the Derby Tavern.

Above all, Rick cherished his family. While he dearly loved his dogs, nothing compared to the love he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Rick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandy Phipps of Magnet; children, Amy Martino (Rossi) of Louisville, Ricky Phipps Jr. (Shelby) and Erin Phipps (Mason) of Tell City; brother, Jerry (Mickie) Phipps of Prentiss, Mississippi; grandchildren, Kenneth Cahill, Devin Moran, Jeremy Phipps, Kristen Phipps, Jayden Phipps, Kohen Kreisle, Karsyn Kreisle, and Killian Brown; and nieces, Tammy Emerson (Mike) of Georgetown and Melissa Feaster (Ron) of Greenville.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.

The family would like to conclude the evening by sharing stories and memories of Rick. Friends and family are invited to bring a favorite memory to share aloud or write one down for the family to read later.

A memorial fund in Rick's memory is currently being established at German American Bank in Tell City for those wishing to make a contribution.
