Robert W. Parker

Robert W. Parker, 89, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 17, 1934, in Tell City, IN, the son of Luke and Cornelia (Feix) Parker. He was united in marriage to Irmgard Diehl in 1960 and they spent 62 wonderful years together until her passing in January 2023.

After graduating from Tell City High School in 1952, Robert joined the United States Navy. After serving 4 years in the Navy, he then went on to serve 16 years in the United States Air Force. In total Robert served our country for over 20 years. Having been awarded numerous decorations, metals, ribbons, and awards, he retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in April of 1973.

He was also a retiree of Branchville Correctional Facility.

Surviving are his sisters, Loyce (Richard) Gries of Dale and Joyce Richards of Tell City; sisters-in-law, Jane and Donna Parker; aunt, Vi Parker; two grandchildren, Simone and Christian; two great-grandchildren, Laura and Hannah; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irmgard Parker; his stepdaughter, Monica Diehl; and three brothers, Charles, Ralph, and Larry Parker.

Services will be 10am Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Monday, June 12, 2023, and from 9am until service time on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the funeral home with Brother Harry McDonald officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Graveside Military Rights provided by the American Legion Post 213.
