Robert Scherzer

Robert “Bob” Scherzer, 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

He was born in Troy on February 22, 1938, to the late Louis and Irene (Gaesser) Scherzer.
 

Bob was united in marriage on July 15, 1961, to Marjorie Ann Harpenau at St. Marks Catholic Church. They shared 54 wonderful years together before her passing in 2016. He served his country in the Air Force Reserve and was a member of the St. Meinrad American Legion. Bob was a life-long cattle farmer and also worked at Emge Packing Company, retiring after 30 years. He enjoyed working on his farm, his John Deere Tractors, flea marketing with Margie, and spending time with his family.
 

Surviving are his children, DeeDee Begle (Randy) of Fulda, Dale Scherzer (Stacy) of Haubstadt, Derek Scherzer (Karen) of Lamar and Dana Thompson (Ben) of Mooresville; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Margie and his siblings, Paul Scherzer and Mary Louise Gogel.
 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM CST Monday, February 3, 2025, at St. Marks Catholic Church with Fr. Julian Peters, OSB as Celebrant and Fr. Denis Robinson, OSB as Concelebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marks Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-6:00PM CST at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home and Monday from 9:00-10:00AM at the church.
 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marks Cemetery.
