Ronald “Ron” J. Voges, Sr., 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
He was born in Evansville, on July 1, 1935, to Jerome A. Voges and Clara (Dauby- Voges) Stiles.
Ron was a 1953 graduate of Tell City High School. He attended Indiana University and graduated from both Chicago Technical College in architectural drafting and International Correspondence School (ICS) in land surveying.
Ron was also a U.S. Army Veteran, serving 2 ½ years in Germany with Headquarters U.S. 7th Army, Secretary of General Staff and Engineering Section.
He was united in marriage on September 7, 1959, to Carol Jo Schaefer, who survives him.
Ron was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Christian Family Movement. He worked in the field of Engineering for many years at Maxon Marine and retired from Corn Island Shipyard. Ron was a member of the Tell City Jaycees and the American Legion Post 213. He served as a director on the Tell City Port Authority and president of the Tell City High School Building Corporation. Ron sang in the Tell City Community Choir and the St. Paul's Funeral Choir. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading novels, playing cards, carving, playing golf and watching IU basketball.
Survivors are his wife, Carol Voges of Tell City; his children, Ronnie Voges, Jr. (Debbie) of Tell City, Mindy Meijer (Henri) of Newburgh, and Terry Scott (Randy) of Evansville; daughter-in-law, Julie Voges of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jason, Daniel, Caleb, Christopher, and Michael Voges, and Ashley Meijer-Westerfield; great-grandchildren, Brody, Maxwell, Spencer, Cameron, Alijah, Alden, Alessia.
In addition to his parents Ron was preceded in death by his son, Tim Voges and his brother, John P. Voges.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tell City. Fr. Tony Hollowell will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 31, 2023, and from 8:30 to 9:30 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church or Food for the Poor.
