Ruth C. Blandford, 95, formerly of Tell City, IN, passed away on January 22, 2025, in Terre Haute, IN, at the home of her daughter, Susan Bear.
She was born May 27, 1929, in Magnet, IN, to the late Willard and Ella (Devillez) Cassidy.
Ruth was united in marriage to Earl Blandford on January 30, 1954, and resided in Tell City, IN, for 67 years before relocating to Terre Haute, IN, in 2021. She was employed at General Electric for 15 years, leaving there with the birth of her third child. She went on to babysit children in her home over the years. Ruth had a love for sewing and enjoyed traveling with her husband and good friends. This started with a trip to California on Rte. 66 in 1950 with three of her girlfriends. She also enjoyed a good game of Euchre, where there were many games played with her nieces and nephews, always the men against the women. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City, IN.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Earl Blandford of Terre Haute, IN; children, Dean Blandford (Cindy) of Louisville, KY, Denise Day (Chris) of Santa Fe, NM, and Susan Bear (Tom) of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Allison Day, Eric Day, Ryan Bear, Tyler Bear and Lauren Bear; step grandchildren, Brittany Howell and Emily Sells; and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by sisters Rosemary Young, Genie Riddle, Maxine Flaherty and Helene Shearn; and brothers Durward Cassidy and Leonard Cassidy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from on 8:00 am until 9:30 am on Friday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
