Today we celebrate the life of Sheila M. Comer. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who left us on Wednesday February 5th, 2025.
She was born November 23, 1960, in Oakland City, IN, to the late Russell and Maxine (McDevitt) Comer. Sheila spent her childhood in Oakland City, Indiana. After receiving her bachelor's degree from Oakland City College, she moved away from her home state. She lived in many states in her adulthood, including New Mexico, Oregon, Arizona, Tennessee, Kentucky and finally returning to her home state of Indiana.
Sheila was a member of Agape Community Church and enjoyed traveling across America, hiking and motorcycle riding. She had a significant impact on those she loved. Always providing unconditional love and support to those she was close to. Her favorite hobbies throughout her life were cross stitching and crocheting. She also enjoyed cooking and providing meals for her family and friends in the neighborhood. During the holidays, you may have been lucky enough to get a package of the most delicious fudge ever, as it will never taste the same again.
Though she is no longer with us, we will carry her in our hearts forever. She was genuinely happy during the last years of her life, having many people in her life that became dear friends, and her children close by. We will find comfort in her passing, as she was surrounded by only love and support in the end. She will now get to be with her mother & sister again.
Surviving are her children, Charity Smith (Eric Butters) of Tell City, Nina Chellis of Cannelton, Gunner Carver of Greenwood, IN, and Erich Carver of Greenwood, IN; her siblings, Larry Comer (Elizabeth), Richard Comer (Cindy), and Lloyd Comer (Cindy); along with her 2 grandchildren, Breanna and Kyra Chellis.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Comer.
Services will be on 1:00pm on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Agape Community Church with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to River's Edge Animal Shelter.
