Shirley Jean Jarboe

Shirley Jean Jarboe, 75, passed away on August 1, 2026, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was born on September 17, 1950, in Hawesville, Kentucky, to the late Samuel and Emma Muriel (Lott) Thrasher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Gladys Hundley, Betty Fisher, Billy Roberts, Charles Roberts, Frank Roberts, Henry "Bunny" Roberts, Delena Mae Thrasher, Russell Thrasher, Larry Wayne Thrasher, Mary K. Shelton, and Patricia "Patsy" McDowell; and by two great-grandchildren, Nora and Watson Harpenau.

On April 15, 1983, Shirley married the love of her life, Larry Jarboe. Together they shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Shirley devoted 20 years of her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Shirley enjoyed watching NASCAR, but nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment she shared with them.

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Jarboe; her children, Heather Dawn (Vince) Peter and Eric Brock, both of Tell City; her former son-in-law, Noel Harpenau of Tell City; her sisters, Ada Gilmore of Tell City and Martha (Ivo) Burch of Whitesville, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Kyle Harpenau (Felicia Edwards), Travis (Emma) Harpenau, and Zachary (Calyssa) Harpenau; her great-grandchildren, Renna, Colson, Jayda, and Charlie Jo Harpenau; one great-grandchild, Priya, on the way; and 2 bonus grandchildren, Avery and Jenson Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Thrashers Cemetery in Lewisport, Kentucky.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Tell City.
