Shirley A. Stanley

Shirley Stanley, 87, of Tell City, Indiana, passed away on August 19, 2026.

She was born on December 3, 1938, in Leopold, Indiana, to the late Emory Lee Lahee and Alice Agnes Peters. Shirley married Ewell Stanley on May 11, 1963. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2016.

Shirley was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. Paul Church. She enjoyed staying busy and giving her time to others. Shirley especially enjoyed crocheting, quilting, volunteering, and spending time with her family and friends. She was also a supporter of the Humane Society and loved the companionship of animals, especially her beloved pets, Axel and Tinkerbell.

Shirley is survived by her children, Lisa Stanley Etienne (Phil) of Evansville, Debbie Stanley of Tell City, and Tina Sitzman (Michael) of Evansville; six grandchildren, Kyle Etienne (Kimi), Sophia Etienne (Colin), Reece Hendershot (Meredith), Jaren Hendershot (Katelin), Ryan Irvin (Rachelle), Brianne Irvin; and five great-grandchildren, Cora, Owen, Griffin, and Silas Hendershot, and Marnie Irvin. She is also survived by her siblings, Bernard Lahee of Tell City, James Howe (Jeanette) of Tell City, Pat Howe, and Norma Young of Chandler.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Stanley; her parents, Donald Emory Lahee and Alice Agnes Peters; and a brother, John Howe.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with Father Tony Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 and from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or River’s Edge Animal Shelter.
