Thomas Louis Baert, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Tell City, Indiana, on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Born in Newburgh, Indiana, on January 14, 1939, Tom was the son of the late Peter and Irene (Cramer) Baert.
On September 12, 1964, Tom married the love of his life, Barbara Costello. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, sharing 50 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2014.
Tom devoted many years of his career to Wells Fargo, where he served as a Vice President Loan Officer. He was known for his strong work ethic and the relationships he built along the way.
Outside of work, Tom found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed trips to the casino, took great pride in his coin collection, and looked forward to attending events at the William Tell Center. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his family, especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchild grow.
Tom will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the love he shared with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family and quiet strength that will not be forgotten.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Lasher and Michelle (Michael) Runde, both of Tell City; his siblings, Janet Clark and Jack Baert of Florida, and Fred Baert of Tennessee; his grandchildren, Thomas (Hannah) Lasher and Parker Runde; and his great-grandchild, Truett Lasher.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Tom was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Andrew Lasher.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, and from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
