Tony Collignon Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Collignon, 82, of Tell City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 13th, 2025.

 

He was born December 26th, 1942, to the late Raymond and Agnes (Schaeffer) Collignon. He graduated from Dale High School in 1961 and served in the National Guard. Tony was united in marriage on January 4th, 1964, to Donna Fromme.

 

Tony moved his family to Tell City in 1974, to manage a Farm Bureau Insurance Office and later partnered with Zoercher Insurance Agency, as well as a real estate agent for Hollinden Realty.

 

He was a member of the American Legion Post 213, Knights of Columbus, and the Tell City Historical Society, where he was a county historian. Tony was on the Schweizer Fest Committee, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and was on the board of directors for the Hoosier Heights Country Club. He was also a dedicated Tell Street Cafe coffee drinker, enjoyed couples card club, and getting together with children and friends.

 

Tony was a coin collector who loved spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf and reading books about genealogy and history. Tony had even compiled information to publish several books on the history of Perry County. During his younger years he liked to hunt and fish.

 

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Donna Collignon; children, Bret (Natalie) Collignon of Celestine, Yvette (Greg) Hendershot of Tell City, and Leta (Jon) Kelly of St. Croix; a sister, Irene Greulich of St. Meinrad; sister-in-law, Sandy Collignon of Santa Claus; grandchildren, Brandon Hendershot, Britney Clark, Lucas Kelly, Jacob Kelly, Gabe Kelly, Ethan Collignon, Brandi Collignon, Alyssa Lampert, Hunter Schwartz, and Levi Schwartz; great-grandchildren; Piper, Leo, and Margo Clark, Parker and Chase Hendershot, and Amelia, Rustyn, and Dawson Kelly.

 

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his siblings, Cornelius “Corny” Collignon and Monica Prechtel.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Tony Hollowell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until Mass at the church.
