Verlee Rust Nelson

Verlee Bonnie Rust Nelson, 92, formerly of Tell City, IN, passed away on April 20, 2025, at Majestic Care of Carmel, IN.

She was born on September 22, 1932, to the late Carl and Virginia (Stevens) Cotton. Verlee married Boyd Rust in 1950, and they raised 2 beautiful children together until his passing in 1990. She then met Otto Brunner, and they shared many wonderful years until his passing in 2013. During her working career Verlee retired from General Electric after 37 years of service. Her greatest enjoyments included working in her flower garden and spending time with her family and friends.

Verlee is survived by her daughter, Kyla Erne and her husband, David; her brother, Terry Cotton; 3 grandchildren, Beau (Anh) Benjamin of Westfield, IN, Jonathan (Mary) Benjamin of Croton on Hudson, NY, and Justin Rust of Tell City; along with several great-grandchildren

In addition to her parents, Verlee was preceded in death by first husband, Boyd Rust; companion, Otto Brunner; son Blake Rust; daughter in infancy, Devonna Kay Rust; grandson, Adam Rust; brothers, Carl, Donnie, and Darrel Cotton; and sisters, Arlene Miller, Jean Newton, and Norma Bledkopf.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with burial to follow in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
