Virginia "Jean" Blue

Virginia “Jean” M. Blue, 93, of Tell City, Indiana, passed away on January 9, 2024, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on September 5, 1930, in Dale, IN, the daughter of Frank & Margaret (Mendel) Schum.

Jean graduated from Dale High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Walter J. Blue, Jr. on January 27, 1951. They shared 47 years together before his passing in 1998. Jean had worked for Can-Tex Industries, Sears Catalog Store and was also a self-employed seamstress. She was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed quilting, reading, crossword puzzles, and helping with her grand kids and great-grand kids.

Survivors include her children, Patty (Roger) Dixon of Tell City, Jeff (Mary) Blue of Ft. Myers, FL; brothers, Bill Schum of Zenia, OH, and Don Schum of Thailand; grandson, Matthew Blue; granddaughters; Julia Kurnia and Connie Wilcox (Mark); and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Blue, Jr.; her son James Allen Blue; and her siblings, Rosemary Hildenbrand, Norm Stetter, Bob Schum, and Tom Schum

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Kolbe Wolniakowski officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Tell City.

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday, January 18, 2024, and 8:30am to 9:30am on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Backpack Program or St. Paul Catholic Church.
