He retired from Prudential Insurance as a sales agent where he met many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his five children, Diana Bratcher, Shelley Alvey (Rick), Tonya McAnelly, Lisa Thorn (Russell), and Mike Hagan (Teri); grandchildren, Steve Bratcher, Kim Alvey, Nathan Alvey (Charlotte), Daniel Thorn (Amanda), Anthony Thorn (Chelsea), Kasey Thorn, and Allison Stewart (Braxston); step-grandchildren Andrew Harpenau (Deidra) and Hannah Harpenau; great-grandchildren Sadie Bratcher, Erik Alvey, Easton Alvey, Hudson Alvey, Tiana McAnelly, Addilynn Thorn, Alyvia Thorn, Grayson Thorn, Amelia Thorn, Cade Thorn, and Halle Thorn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Wally was preceded in death by his granddaughter Amanda McAnelly; son-in-law Bill Bratcher; and siblings, Joe, Herbert, Lester, Carl, Cloweda, Mary, Maggie, and Alice.
Funeral Services will be at 11 AM CST, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with Fr. Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 PM to 7 PM CST, on Friday, November 21, 2025, and on Saturday from 9 AM until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Oakwood Health Center and Gentiva Hospice Care for the exceptional care they provided to Wally.
