Winfield Erickson

Winfield E. “Bill” Erickson, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Cypress Grove in Newburgh, IN.

He was born in Boone, IA, on July 12, 1947, to the late Mark Elmer and Dora Elizabeth (Browning) Erickson.

After graduating high school, Bill joined the United States Army and served our country for more than 31 years. During his time in the service, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After retiring from the military, he worked as a medical claim's examiner, accounting and in orthopedics. In his free time, Bill enjoyed watercolor painting, teaching his grandchildren to paint and sew, long drives in the country, listening to music, and staying up to date with politics. He grew up on a farm in Iowa and helped his family with farming corn and beans as a young boy. Bill became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale, IN.

Survivors include his family, Amber, Rick, Roberta, Jessica and Jennifer.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Seville.

Military service with burial will be held on Thursday, July 18th at 1:00pm CST at the Rock Island National Cemetery, located at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL 61299.
