Leonard E. Doogs, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at his home in St. Marks, Indiana.
He was born April 10, 1927 to Minnie (Dupont) and John A. Doogs in Ranger, Indiana. Leonard was united in marriage to Bettye Bockhold on April 15, 1953.
He worked at the Tell City Chair Company and finished his career at the A & H Trucking Company, retiring in 1987.
Leonard was a 3rd degree member of the K of C and a member of the Tell City American Legion. He served his country in the Army from 1945 – 1948.
He lived a loving and full life caring and involving his family always. He loved fishing, hunting, golf, bowling, gardening, reading, and pitching horseshoes. He volunteered his time often helping others. Coaching little league and helping young children was a passion of his.
Surviving is his wife, Bettye Doogs; sons, Dan Doogs (Dale) of Lawrenceburg, and Sam Doogs of St. Marks; grandchildren, Brian Doogs, Kayce Doogs, Sydney Doogs, and Samuel Doogs; siblings, Uneda East of Mt. Pleasant and Helen (Clarence) Wittman of Tell City.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Cletus Doogs and Mary Ruth King.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:15 am, July 27 at St. Marks Catholic Church with burial in St. Marks Cemetery. Fr. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be from 8:30 – 10:30 am Thursday, July 27 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
